The Heritage of Sir Bani Yas

Archaeological evidence shows that tribes first lived on the island several thousands years ago. The first settlers were the Bani Yas tribe, hence the name that was given to the island. Wildlife always flourished here, especially when Sheikh Zayed prohibited hunting on the island in 1977. He created Arabia’s first wildlife reserve and implemented a program that reintroduced many endangered species back to Sir Bani Yas.
