Dubai is the most popular tourist destination in the Middle East, and with so many world-famous attractions to explore, it’s easy to see why. If you’re short of time, and want to be sure you don’t miss any key attractions, this list of important sightseeing places in Dubai should come in handy. It’s possible to cover all of these locations in one day – but we think you really need at least two days to be able to properly explore. And, there are so many other hidden gems to discover in this fascinating city!
Burj Khalifa – Downtown
The world’s tallest tower does not disappoint and is definitely on our list of sightseeing places in Dubai. There are several experiences to choose from – including At The Top which gives access to floors 124 and 125, and At The Top SKY which gives additional access to level 144 along with additional attractions. Go for a record breaking visit to this 830m high tower with a unique design inspired by the Hymenocallis desert flower. Set in the heart of Downtown Dubai with Dubai Mall and Dubai Fountain on its doorstep, the Burj Khalifa makes for a great location to visit and tick off several of Dubai’s icons in one go.
This is where you can explore Dubai’s past and gain an understanding of the history and culture of the city. You can explore the exotic spice and gold souks, or take a ride across the Creek itself in a traditional Abra Boat. You can see original architecture in the Al Fahidi historical district, and the Dubai Museum is within easy reach. Complete your experience with a traditional Arabic meal, coffee and dates. To get the most out of your visit we recommend taking a guided tour. Our Private Heritage Tour is one of the best, and specialises in small groups so you have a truly personalised experience – a highlight is finishing with a traditional Arabic meal.
Kite beach is popular spot with tourists and locals alike, you can even see the Burj Al Arab as you walk along the shore. The area boasts an extensive coastal walkway with cafes and loungers along the beachfront. You can rent a paddleboard, take a kitesurfing lesson or watch skaters do tricks on the ramps in the skatepark. There are plenty of facilities for families, and all the beach areas are patrolled for your safety, just don’t forget your sunblock.
Dubai’s Palm Jumeirah is world-famous for its unique shape and size, and is another of the important Dubai landmarks. Visit one of the five-star hotels for lunch or head to one of the luxury beach clubs for an afternoon relaxing in the sun. There’s an 11km pedestrian boardwalk along the outside which is dotted with food trucks and free for people to access. While you won’t really get a true feel for the Palm at ground level, it’s a completely different story from the sky. We recommend taking one of our scenic seaplane tours which will give you amazing views of this incredible island, as well as other Dubai icons.
Dubai Desert Conservation reserve
No trip to the Emirates is complete without a desert experience, and the Dubai Desert Conservation definitely one you don’t want to miss. One of the best ways to explore is to take advantage of Al Maharesort which is located within the Dubai Desert Conservation. We recommend their guided 4WD tour day package. You’ll travel across the rolling dunes and spot native flora and fauna such as camels, gazelles, falcons or even Arabian Oryx. All vehicles are air-conditioned for your comfort, and tours are available year-round.
