It’s amazing how much diversity you can find at Abu Dhabi’s events venues in August and September. Comedy, theatre, music, summer sports camps, smartphone photography workshops…while the summer sun remains in full swing the Emirate has plenty of ways to stay busy. Seawings is especially excited about The District and the Abu Dhabi Summer Season.
Summer Sports Camps: Throughout August at Marina Mall and Alliance Francais.
The children are off school, it’s hot, and they’re bored. A couple of big summer sports camps are keeping them entertained, one at Marina Mall and the other at Alliance Francaise.
Abu Dhabi Summer Season 2016: 7th July to 11th September, across Abu Dhabi.
Summers should be about fun, regardless of how hot it might be outside. Abu Dhabi knows how to entertain as a series of international musicians will be arriving in the Emirate to perform. The star-studded concerts are combined with children’s shows and sports events. Hotels and malls will be offering promotions and the emphasis is on proving that you don’t need to leave Abu Dhabi to enjoy summer.
See a detailed program on the Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority website.
The District: Thursday 18th August until Saturday 17th August, Abu Dhabi Du Forum
Seawings is extremely excited to see The District, a month-long event that celebrates youth creativity. It gives a platform for young people to explore entertainment, fashion, technology, media, and science. There’s a functionality to it all, with Du Forum providing a safe space for young people to meet during the holidays. Activities include smartphone photography workshops, acting classes, fashion design, 3D design, and workshops run by local and international stars. But the real excitement is going to be how The District will look. We’re thinking graffiti in the Alley and Street areas, budding fashion designers in the Dome, and music in the Park. But we won’t know until it opens its doors in August.
More information about the schedule can be found here.
Arab Comedy Festival: Friday 9th and Saturday 10th September, Yas Mall.
Coinciding with the start of Eid, Abu Dhabi has invited some of Arabia’s most popular comedians to the Emirate. Bin Baz is hosting on the Friday, introducing the iconic Saudi trio of Fadi Al Shehri, Ibrahim Saleh and Ibrahim Khairallah. If you’re not heard of them before, just search for their hugely popular YouTube channel. Taim Al Falasi, one of the UAE’s own women, will host the Saturday. She introduce talents like Rajae Qawas. For some giggles before the show, check out his YouTube channel Kharabeesh.
Note that this event is fully in Arabic. Tickets are from www.ticketmaster.ae.
Yasalam Emerging Talent Competition: 26th May until 24th September, Abu Dhabi: Du Forum
Abu Dhabi’s inspiring annual competition provides a platform for hundreds of local musicians to perform on the big stage. For visitors to Abu Dhabi, it’s a chance to watch the next big thing before anyone else has heard of them. Music industry big wigs have put together the program with the winner of the competition playing at Beats on the Beach. Local entertainers have until 24th September to submit their videos and there will be a number of performances at Abu Dhabi Du Forum.
